1.) E-Z Money - The BIG Story
Netflix ($NFLX) is projecting mega-hit ‘Squid Game’ will generate nearly $900 million for the company, despite costing only $21 million to make. ‘Squid Game’ cost a meager $2.4 million an episode, far less than ‘The Crown’ or ‘Stranger Things.’ But it hasn’t been all good things for the streaming giant this past week. Netflix fired the organizer of the trans employee walkout after protests of the company’s handling of Dave Chappelle’s ‘The Closer.’ This week $NFLX is reporting earnings on Tuesday after the bell. Analysts believe that the company has a good chance to beat estimates. (Ape Translation = Stock will go up!)
2.) “To the Moon” — Retail Investing
Electric automaker Tesla ($TSLA) also reports earnings this week on Wednesday after market close. One analyst is predicting a 15% upside in the stock. Investment banking company Jefferies Group upped its target price to $950/share (the stock currently trades at $843). The analysts based their upgraded target price on “higher capacity and sustained demand.” Tesla also started delivering its latest Model X SUV after months of delays. The new Model X has an upgraded battery pack and features an external facelift.
3.) “The Cypher” — Crypto Investing
Crypto is finally coming to mainstream markets! The first Bitcoin futures ETF is set to trade in the U.S. after the SEC approved the creation on Friday. The ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF will give exposure to Bitcoin futures contracts but not the actual market, and will trade under ticker symbol $BITO. The proposed date for the listing is on Monday but it may actually happen later in the week.
4.) “Straight Cash” — Sports Betting
L won yet again last week when the Ravens & Colts went bananas in the second half and went way OVER the line. L improves to 7-2 on the NFL season despite mostly betting on Monday Night Football. This week ‘MNF’ features the class of the AFC — the Buffalo Bills take on the Tennessee Titans. The Bills are a (-5.5) road favorite and the over/under is set at 53.5. L likes the Bills. They’re going to win by more than a touchdown and it only needs to be 6 points! Let’s stay hot!🔥
5.) “The Alternatives” — NFTs, ESGs, & More!
Basically every celebrity you know is getting in on the NFT trend. Vancouver-based Dapper Labs is partnering with Kevin Durant and his long-time agent Rich Kleiman to create NFTs, video content and more with NBA Top Shots. The partnership intends to create digital collectibles with Durant, who is NBA Top Shots “tip-off athlete.”
6.) Bonus Sh*t
It seemed like decades (actually it’s only been two years) but HBO’s ‘Succession’ is finally back! Season 3 promises to feature a Roy civil war with division and battle lines drawn across the family. This is certainly must watch TV.
